Dr. Arnold functions as Clinic Director.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University and her Master’s Degree in Experimental Psychology and Ph.D. Degree in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal, during which time she worked extensively in the area of parent-child interactions.  She also has trained in the area of childhood anxiety and ahs presented and published on both of these topics.  She has over 15 years of assessment and therapy experience.  Dr. Arnold is one of only a few clinicians formally trained in B.C. in the Collaborative Problem Solving approach which has been demonstrated to be effective in working with children exhibiting challenging behavior.

In her work at the Clinic, Dr. Arnold provides assessment, treatment and consultation services to children, adolescents, and their families.  She uses an integrative treatment approach, with interventions being tailored to the needs of the child and selected based on the nature of the presenting concern(s).  A variety of treatment approaches are used that meet established standards of treatment.  Some of these areas of treatment include:

  • Anxiety (specific fears, generalized anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
  • Autism
  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • Adjustment difficulties
  • Divorce and blended family issues
  • Children and youth experiencing challenging behavior
  • Grief and loss
  • Parenting issues

In addition to treatment, Dr. Arnold conducts comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational assessments with children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of concerns.  She relies on an information processing approach to learning difficulties, with a focus on identifying the child’s learning style and areas of strength and weakness, and providing recommendation to address the child’s specific area(s) of concern.  Some of the issues addressed include:
